What You Will Do:
Staging Manager:
As the onsite Staging Manager(SM), the individual is mainly responsible for the smooth integration of the Staging Area and welcoming participants into the technical part of the event. The Staging Manager(SM) is responsible for managing volunteers in their area, communicating with the Non-Profit and Building Stakeholders during the event, and working with the SSS and other staff to maintain a smooth running event.
This often hectic location depends on good communication between all parties onsite. The first 2 to 2.5 hours of the event are crucial and a concentrated effort in this area is required. Pending the start-up phase, the SM is ideally able to assist and support both the TM and SSS in clearing any backlogs that might be occurring on the roof and/or Training Areas. The SM adds an extra level of support and safety to OTE events, facilitates staff lunch and relief breaks, and assists with effective management of any situation that may occur. About 2 hours prior to the last rappel the SM supervises the breakdown of the staging area, slowly packing up equipment as it is taken out of commission. The SM is also responsible for both an opening and closing inventory of the kit and visual inspection of gear used during the event.
Training Manger:
When working as the Training Manager (TM), the individual is mainly responsible for the completion and seamless integration of training participants in preparation for the main rappel. This may occur as a Ground School, a short (1-2 story) rappel, or a combination of the two. This area is critical to ensure a steady flow of participants are running through the event process, while also preventing too many people from waiting in line on the roof. The TM should work to facilitate the event flow through good communication with the SM and SSS. The TM is also responsible for managing any Rope Volunteers in their area and performing safety checks prior to any rappel. Upon the successful completion of the last group training the TM will break down the Training Area. If requested by the SSS, the TM may accompany the last training group to the roof and immediately help put people over the edge. They assist with the overall inventory and visual inspection process and are responsible for completing the closing inventory for the rigging equipment and gear used on the roof.
