Labor One Staffing is hiring Heavy Equipment Riggers in San Diego.
Job Duties
· Assemble and install rigging gear such as cables, ropes, pulleys and winches to lift, lower, move or position machinery, structural steel and other heavy objects.
· They use weight handling equipment such as fork trucks, cranes, wire ropes (all types), end fittings, slings, winches, chain falls, boat slings, boat davits, and horizontal and verticals pad-eyes.
· Will normally be able to perform all the following tasks: examine objects to be moved, estimate their size, shape and weight and decide on the type of equipment necessary
· Install cables, pulleys and other tackle; choose or make slinging equipment and attach it to the load
· Utilize rigging cables, slings and tackle
· Inspect, maintain and repair equipment of trade.
Requirements
· Responsible for the lifting and moving of heavy and bulky objects, whether aboard ships or around the shipyard.
· Must have a working knowledge of selecting and using the various rigging hardware, such as ropes, slings, shackles, clamps, chain falls, and come-a-longs.
· Must also be able to calculate the weight factors and angles used in the proper lifting and transferring of those heavy loads.
· Responsible for installing the safety nets, anchor chains, elevator cables, and mooring ropes onboard the ships and for line handling of the cables and ropes when docking or undocking the ship
