As Lead Rigger, you will lead on-site teams to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality installation of permanent theatrical rigging systems. This role requires both hands-on technical skills and the ability to manage site personnel, maintain job timelines, and act as the onsite contact to clients, contractors, and other trades.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead and supervise union rigging crews on-site for installing new rigging systems and performing maintenance/upgrades on existing systems.
• Lay out system according to design and engineering documents and maintain system tolerances.
• Coordinate daily activities and delegate responsibilities to installers and labor teams.
• Coordinate with the other trades on-site and resolve or escalate issues.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, ETCP, and applicable local building and safety codes.
• Enforce all safety rules and regulations at all times.
• Monitor and maintain job site organization, cleanliness, and security
• Communicate with Project Managers regarding progress, issues, and required materials or support.
• Complete required documentation including daily reports, timesheets, safety
checklists, and incident reports.
• Represent company in a competent and professional manner when working at client sites and with external contractors.
OTHER DUTIES:
• Inspect and maintain all rigging equipment and tools.
• Perform annual rigging inspections of existing client’s theatrical rigging systems and prepare written reports.
• Advise and assist production/events department on special rigging requirements.
• Work with System Design and Engineering on making their crazy ideas work.

Requirements

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in theatrical rigging systems.
• ETCP Certified Rigger. If you have the Arena Certification, you must obtain the Theater Certification within 6 months of employment.
• Strong working knowledge of rigging systems, tools, and best practices.
• OSHA 10-hour Construction certification. (OSHA 30 required within one year)
• Ability to lift/push up to 65lbs regularly.
• Comfortable working at heights exceeding 75’.
• Proficient in operating Scissor Lifts, Boom Lifts, and Sca8old Systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proficient in the usual o8ice computer software.
• Familiar with drawing programs such as Vectorworks, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD.
• Experience in ETC hoist systems.
• Experience in integrating rigging with other performance systems.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to travel and work nights or weekends as projects require.
BONUS CERTIFICATIONS for HIGHER COMPENSATION:
• Experience or certifications in maintaining, repairing, and testing chain hoists and other lifting equipment.
• Experience with power and control systems, or ETCP Electrician Certification.
• SPRAT or IRATA Rope-Access certification.
